Ascomata 250-400 mm high, 300-360 mm diameter, subglobose or depressed ellipsoidal, gregarious, fleshy-leathery, orange yellowish, epapillate or clypeoid, immersed, ostiolate. Ostiolar canal conical, lined with periphyses. Paraphyses present, dissolving at maturity.

Asci 70.0-96 x 15-22 mm, 8-spored, unitunicate, aphysoclastic, clavate or subcylindrical, short pedunculate, thin-walled, without apical apparatus.


Ascospores 16-24 x 8-12
mm, ellipsoidal or ovoid, 1-septate, somewhat below the center, slightly constricted at the septum, hyaline with longitudinal ridges running around the spore from one pole to the other.
